When I first joined Klout I was surprised to see that I had been influential about Los Angeles (true), Music (true) and unicorns. Whaaaaaa!?!?! It seemed so random. I don’t even remember talking about them. I did have a pretty sweet business card with one on it for a while, but I hardly remember talking about it, it was one of those you have to have been given one to know kind of things. I was also kind of sad to see that Klout didn’t put social media or DTLA on there, those are usually the #1 things that people tell me I’m an expert in. Funny methodology there Klout but ok. . .
Perhaps because it’s so funny that it’s on there in the first place my friends have taken it upon themselves to give me “+K” in unicorns. So today when the topic pages were debuted (to 5% of users only, and I’m one of them, neener neener neener!)

I of course went to see if I made it to the influential users list for that topic. No such luck.

Apparently unicorns are a very popular topic and I didn’t even make it to the top 10! Not only did I not make it into the top 10 but I’m not even listed as one of the people that received the most +K in that category.

Who knew unicorns were such a popular topic on social media!
Interestingly, there isn’t any popular content listed for unicorns, which leads me to believe that just like my own account that the other people listed as experts in this field aren’t talking about unicorns either.

This whole unicorns thing has really made me wonder about the accuracy of Klout and their scoring. I’m not complaining though, MetroMint sent me a case of their water to try through the Klout Perks program and I’m a fan for life now. Big fan of the Chocolate Mint water, and all of the other ones too actually! (Though I can’t recommend the GoodBerryMint one, blech!)

Anyway, it would be pretty hard to get into the top 10 for Los Angeles, Social Media, or Music, as most of those spots are filled with businesses related to those industries (LA Weekly, LA Times, Mashable, The Next Web, etc.) but dammit if Klout isn’t going to list me as an expert in DTLA then I want to be at the top of the unicorns list!
So if you’re on Klout and are feeling generous give me a +K or two. ;)
